The following poem was written by Gail Hamm, an RSMC helper out of the Three Hills office:
To The Rural Route Mail Customers
Hey, today is the day!
To walk up to your mailbox and “say,”
Does the door open and close with ease,
Is it attached so it doesn’t fall off due to a breeze?
Is the post sturdy in the ground,
Make sure the box doesn’t wobble all around?
We are required to deliver mail out the passenger window door
And if we struggle with the box, it becomes quite a chore.
Cut the grass, let your mailbox be seen.
This will avoid it being hit by various country and farm machines.
In winter, snow drifts will appear!
Please clear the snow so our vehicles can get near.
If we can’t get close enough on delivery day
Then back at the post office your mail will stay.
You see, we have rules and regulations to prevent liabilities
So we need your help to ensure safe and prompt mail delivery.
For those of you with the big green community mail box,
Please ensure the front is equipped with a lock.
Please make sure ALL your mail has your proper mailing address,
For us new RSMCs this will avoid making a guess!
We also need updated phone numbers and mail recipients, old and new,
This would be helpful when we nedd to contact you.
For those who have had a mis-sort, or two
I would like to apologize for any inconvienience this caused you.
Just put the mistake back as “out going” mail
And on my next run I will redirect it with no “avail”.
If you have any concerns feel free to contact me.
Just call the post office and ask for your RSMC.
